“My main market was Germany,” recalls Mr. Sharma. “To export my carpets, I registered Sea Sky Cargo Service (P) Ltd with the government of Nepal in 1988.”

But the real turning point came during a visit to Kolkata Port. There, Mr. Sharma saw something that would change the course of Nepalese logistics:
“I saw cargo—including over-dimensional cargo to Nepal—lying in the port unattended. No attention was given to its safety or proper handling. I realized Nepal needed someone to take responsibility, to ensure our goods reached home safely and efficiently.”
